VANDERHOOF Announce New Keyboardist
July 12, 2002VANDERHOOF, led by METAL CHURCH guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, have parted ways with keyboardist Brian Cokeley on the eve of the release of the group's sophomore full-length effort, A Blur In Time. According to the group's official web site, "[Brian's] personal life is requiring more attention than in years past, and he is unable to fully commit to VANDERHOOF at this point. After weighing all the options, Brian decided to step aside so that the band could continue on without restraint. He is a good friend to all involved and will be missed. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and hope to work with him again someday.
"Filling Brian's shoes is no easy task, but we've found someone who is very capable of capturing the classic VANDERHOOF sound on the keys. We extend a welcoming hand to our newest member Jeff Powell, a multi-talented musician who not only plays keyboards, but a variety of other instruments as well. Jeff has been playing, singing, recording, engineering and producing for over 20 years, and brings with him the talent and knowledge that will make his transition into VANDERHOOF a seamless one."
As previously reported, A Blur In Time is VANDERHOOF's second album in five years and the first to feature new singer Drew Hart (ex-TIMELESS HALL). A July 29th release through Germany's SPV/Steamhammer Records is expected.
